EFP prepares for Perio Workshop 2016 on relationship between caries and periodontal diseases

The final preparations are now taking place for the EFP Perio Workshop 2016, which will focus on the relationship between caries and periodontal diseases. Organised by the EFP in partnership with the European Organisation for Caries Research (ORCA), the workshop will involve 75 invited experts from the two organisations.

The number of subscribers to the EFP's Facebook page has now passed the 5,000 mark. Growth has been consistently strong over recent months, increasing from 2,000 in June 2015 - an average rate of 200 new subscribers each month.

Research suggests evidence of an association between the use of lipid-lowering agents (LLAs) and a reduced level of periodontal inflammation, as measured by bleeding on probing (BOP), according to a study whose findings were summarised in JCP Digest 12 (2015:42).

He made a major contribution to the development of periodontal science, notably through his work on tissue regeneration. In February 2014, the EFP launched a new triennial event, the Perio Master Clinic, to complement the EuroPerio congresses, bringing together periodontal clinicians to improve their skills in clinical practice to the highest levels. As we prepare for the second edition, in Malta in March 2017, we can remind ourselves of the pioneering event that took place in Paris in February 2014.
