The EFP LinkedIn page
The EFP’s page on LinkedIn, the business and employment-oriented social-networking service, has now passed the 15,000-subscriber threshold, with followers in more than 100 countries.
On May 5, the total stood at 15,173, representing an increase of more than 50% since the end of January 2016.
These subscribers include not only periodontists but also researchers, general and specialist dentists, hygienists, dental students, practice owners and managers, public-health experts, journalists, and others interested in gum health.
The EFP typically publishes two or three new posts on LinkedIn every week, with links to articles on the EFP website, to the federation’s publications, and to its videos. Each post usually receives between 1,500 and 2,500 individual views and many posts are “liked”, commented on, and shared by LinkedIn users.
The LinkedIn page also provides general information about the EFP, its objectives, its activities, and its affiliated national societies of periodontology.
The audience is mainly European, but there are thousands of followers in the rest of the world, notably Latin America, the USA, and Asia. The countries with the biggest number of subscribers are the UK, Spain, Italy, and the USA.
In terms of the mother tongue of subscribers, English and Spanish are by far the most frequent, followed by German, Arabic, and Turkish. Dutch, Greek, and Swedish are particularly well represented in relation to their size.
As well as LinkedIn, the EFP maintains an active presence on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
