EFP Twitter page posts solid growth – join us now
More and more periodontal practitioners and other oral-health professionals from across the world are following the EFP on the Twitter social-media platform.
In the eight months since the EFP launched its Twitter page (@PerioEurope) more than 450 individuals, companies, and institutions have subscribed in order to receive daily news and updates. During this period, the EFP has published more than 640 tweets – an average of about 15 per week.
The three most viewed tweets were all related to EuroPerio8, with the most popular (1,688 views) linking to the 'Perio People' blog’s guide to the congress, followed by two tweets (1,631 views, 1,567 views) about the documentary film The Sound of Periodontitis: The patient’s view of gum disease, which received its world premiere at the event.
Other popular tweets include one about the annual conference of Spanish Society of Periodontology SEPA (1,306 views), one about the EFP delegation to the European Parliament in Brussels (1,169 views), and one about the publication in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology of the guidelines on preventing periodontal disease from the 2014 European Workshop in Periodontology (1,149 views).
The EFP’s Twitter page has also generated a high level of interactivity with its followers, as shown by a large number of replies and retweets, and the selection of EFP tweets as 'favourites'. You can follow the EFP's Twitter page by visiting @PerioEurope and clicking on the 'Follow' button.
The biggest number of subscribers to the EFP’s Twitter page come from the United Kingdom (25% of the total), followed by Spain (22%) and then Italy and the United States (both 5%). Subscribers come from across the world, from countries including Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. There is a strong male bias among the followers, with men accounting for 69% of subscribers and women only 39%.
During 2015, the EFP has stepped up its social-media activity, revamping its Facebook page, increasing its activity in its Twitter account, launching a page on the professional network LinkedIn, and boosting its YouTube video channel, where 97 videos are available and have been viewed more than 30,000 times.
