EFP’s LinkedIn page now has more than 20,000 subscribers
The EFP LinkedIn page offers regular updates on EFP news and events
The EFP’s page on LinkedIn, the professional and employment-oriented social-networking service, now has more than 20,000 subscribers in over a hundred countries.
As of October 16, the number of subscribers (or “followers”) stood at 20,626, which represents growth of 17% over the last six months.
While most followers are in Europe, there is a strong increase in the numbers of those from the Americas, the Middle East, and southern Asia, in line with the increasingly global approach adopted by the EFP.
Via LinkedIn, the EFP provides regular posts – typically three per week – providing news and information about its activities, often linked to news items or publications available at the EFP.org website.
All posts are relevant to the professional careers of the subscribers, who include periodontists, dentists, dental-practice owners and managers, hygienists, researchers, therapists, university teachers, and students. The page is also followed by professionals working in areas related to periodontology including chief scientists at dental companies, public-health activists, and dentistry-related associations and foundations.
Between April 1 and October 16, the total number of views of EFP posts on LinkedIn was about 280,000, with each individual post reaching an average of 2,019 people.
During this period, the three most popular posts were about the EFP video on the new classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions (6,608 views), Pierpaolo Cortellini’s EuroPerio9 presentation on periodontal regeneration (6,659 views), and the recently updated EFP dossier on periodontal diseases (3,836 views).
Other popular items included one about the Journal of Clinical Periodontology and its achievement of its highest-ever impact factor (4.046) and several about prizes and awards: EFP Research Prize in Periodontology winner Christoph Ramseier), EFP president Anton Sculean’s receiving the Distinguished Teacher Award from the European Orthodontic Society, and the winner of Perio Contest 2018, Teresa Chanting Sun from Taiwan.
“It’s great that LinkedIn is being used by our professional community and continuing to increase in popularity,” said Reena Wadia, the EFP’s social-media co-ordinator. “I would urge everyone to also connect with us on the other social-media channels.”
As well as LinkedIn, the EFP maintains an active presence on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.
