EuroPerio9 receives record number of abstract submissions
By the December 5 deadline, the EuroPerio9 organising committee had received a record number of abstract submissions from periodontists and implant dentists who wish to give presentations at the EuroPerio9 congress in Amsterdam in June 2018.
A total of 1,750 abstracts were submitted for consideration, compared with the 1,614 submissions received for EuroPerio8, held in London in June 2015.
Abstracts for the two types of presentation – research and clinical report – were received from 85 different countries, which indicates the global importance of the EFP’s triennial congress.
The EuroPerio9 organising committee will now consider the submissions to assess their scientific and clinical merit, and decide which ones to select for oral presentation and which ones for poster presentation.
The committee has already allocated much more space in the programme for these presentations than at previous EuroPerio congresses.
“There are now so many abstract submissions from people who want to present their work in short oral presentations or posters,” said Søren Jepsen, EuroPerio9 scientific chair.
“This is something we have learnt from London, where there were many more than anticipated and it was difficult to accommodate all of them. So, this time we are scheduling twice as many sessions for this type of presentation.”
