Discover EuroPerio8 speakers by reading their abstracts – EFP Facebook and Twitter campaign
Perhaps the strongest asset of EuroPerio8 is its impressive scientific programme, packed with interesting topics and first-rate speakers from every area of periodontology and implant dentistry.
To support EuroPerio8, the EFP has launched a campaign across its Facebook and Twitter pages to promote the event’s speakers by providing links to abstracts of their scientific articles that are related to the themes of the presentations they will make in London.
This social-media initiative started on March 24 with the first of various posts related to the speakers who will be involved in the Thursday, June 4 seminar on 'Critical factors in implant dentistry'.
The first three abstracts featured in this series were: 'Evidence-based knowledge on the biology and treatment of extraction sockets', co-authored by Cristoph Hammerle who will speak at EuroPerio8 about treatment options and clinical decisions; 'Four modalities of single implant treatment in the anterior maxilla: a clinical, radiographic, and aesthetic evaluation', by Jan Cosyn who will speak about the question of when immediate implants are indicated; and 'Immediate or early placement of implants following tooth extraction: review of biologic basis, clinical procedures, and outcomes' by Stephen Chen who will talk to the congress about the early or delayed placement of implants.
These posts were followed by: 'Fence technique for localised three-dimensional bone augmentation: a technical description and case reports' by Mauro Merli, who will speak at EuroPerio8 about advanced surgical approaches to implant placement; 'Implant- and patient-centred outcomes of guided surgery, a one-year follow-up' by Marjolein Vercruyssen, who will talk about guided implant replacement solutions; 'Marginal bone and soft tissue behavior following platform switching abutment connection/disconnection – a dog model study', co-authored by José Blanco, whose presentation is dedicated to immediate implant placement with immediate function.
This first abstract series ended by mid-April with three last posts published on the EFP's Facebook and Twitter pages: 'Mechanical, chemical and laser treatments of the implant surface in the presence of marginal bone loss around implants', by Jörg Meyle, whose presentation will discuss the rationale for the surgical therapy of peri-implantitis; 'Therapy of peri-implantitis with resective surgery: a 3-year clinical trial on rough screw-shaped oral implants', by Eugenio Romero, who will talk about the efficacy of access-flap surgical approaches; and 'Long-term stability of surgical bone regenerative procedures of peri-implantitis lesions in a prospective case-control study over 3 years', by Stefan Renvert, whose presentation on the question of the efficacy of regenerative surgical approaches will close the seminar on critical factors in implant dentistry.
In the coming weeks, this social-media information campaign will continue to introduce EuroPerio8 speakers through their related and most recent scientific literature.
