Youth gets its chance as EFP discusses plans in Mallorca
New, young faces and the welcome announcement of a 2nd Master Clinic were among the highlights of October's EFP Executive Committee in Mallorca.
For the first time, the EFP's strategy has seen junior officers - all of them high-level professionals in perio - integrated in its committees:
France Lambert (Belgium) joins the Postgraduate Education Committee, while Mervi Gürsoy (Finland) will form part of the Undergraduate Education Committee. The EFP Workshop Committee will benefit from the inclusion of Italy's Filippo Graziani. Brenda Mertens (France) comes in to the External Affairs Committee, and Rajan Nansi (UK) joins the Scientific Affairs Committee.
The move underlines the EFP's recent commitment to refreshing its leadership with up-and-coming faces.
EuroPerio9 in Amsterdam, 2018
The Executive Committee agreed to establish a EuroPerio9 committee over the coming months to discuss the 2018 EuroPerio event in Amsterdam.
A second Master Clinic meeting in 2017
Meanwhile, following the Federation's success with the February 2014 Master Clinic in Paris, congress guidelines have been prepared for a second such event for 2017. Calls for bids from national societies wishing to stage the event have been sent out in November.
A second Master Clinic would consolidate what will be a key brand for the EFP. Alongside its annual top-level Workshops in Periontology, it now boasts two key triennial meetings. While EuroPerio brings crucial updates every three years, the Master Clinic meeting is specifically aimed at clinicians. The recent 2014 event focused on Peri-implant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and was a sell-out with over 500 delegates attending.
Delphi Study Perio EU 2025
The October Executive Committee meeting also heard that the Delphi Study Perio EU 2025 is nearing completion. The report will be published on the EFP website www.efp.org in the coming months.
