Season’s greetings from EFP President Søren Jepsen
Dear colleagues, friends and partners,
We have come to the end of what has been an intense and exciting year. On behalf of the European Federation of Periodontology, I would like to wish you and all your loved ones a very happy, rewarding, and healthy New Year.
2015 has been an excellent year for the EFP and its 29 national perio societies. Important milestones include the extraordinary success of EuroPerio8 in London, with its nearly 10,000 attendees from all over the world and its memorable closing ceremony, and the release of the far-reaching conclusions and guidelines from the EFP Prevention Workshop, published in the JCP in April and also available at our new website dedicated to the topic.
I am now more than halfway through my term as president and I feel very privileged to have witnessed and to have been actively involved in exciting projects and developments which are helping the EFP to evolve in a very positive way.
I would like to highlight successful initiatives such as our delegation to the European Parliament in Brussels in June, our video ‘Gum Health Matters’ in which MEPs give their support to periodontology, and the high-level 6th EFP Postgraduate Symposium in September.
In addition, I would also like to mention the intensive preparations for a joint EFP-AAP World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases in 2017, and the recent EFP Media and Health Promotion Workshop, where we started preparing new communication strategies and priorities for the coming year.
I wish to thank all board members of the EFP, the committees, and the media team for their dedicated and creative service, and our partners for their support.
In fact, 2016 – the year when our organisation will celebrate its 25th anniversary – will be a year full of promises and challenges, and we will continue to pursue our mission “Periodontal health for a better life”.
The time to celebrate our first quarter century will come. But for now, I wish you most joyful and restful holidays with your family and friends and a very happy and peaceful New Year!
