NVvP autumn meeting puts focus on perio-ortho connection
Perio on the Move meeting explored the perio-ortho connection
The interaction between orthodontics and periodontology is often underexplored, which was why the Dutch Society of Periodontology (NVvP) decided to devote its autumn meeting to this topic.
More than 450 delegates attended the “Perio on the Move” event, held in the city of Ede on November 24, including periodontists, orthodontists, dentists, and dental hygienists.
The day started with a dual presentation on contemporary orthodontic and periodontal treatment by orthodontist Guiliano Maino and periodontist Stefano Parma Benfenati.
The afternoon was devoted to the subjects of thin and thick biotypes, and recessions, with speakers including orthodontist Anne-Marie Renkema and periodontists Giles de Quincey and Natasha Lioubavina-Hack.
Other lectures were given by orthodontists Nicoline van der Kaaij, Lotte Veldhuijzen van Zanten, and Johanna Maertens, and by dental hygienist Nienke Hennequin-Hoenderdos. These talks discussed a variety of subjects and highlighted the synergies between orthodontics and periodontology.
The meeting also featured a trade exhibition, where delegates were able to visit stands and exchange ideas with colleagues.
The Dutch Periodontal Society said the meeting had been a success and that it would concentrate during the coming months on preparing to welcome visitors to EuroPerio9 in Amsterdam in June 2018.
