One year to go until EuroPerio9 in Amsterdam
RAI Amsterdam, venue of EuroPerio9
In one year’s time, on June 20, 2018, the RAI Amsterdam centre will open its doors for the ninth edition of the EFP’s triennial EuroPerio congress – the world’s leading event in periodontology.
EuroPerio9 is expected to attract around 10,000 periodontists, dentists, dental hygienists, exhibitors and others in what will be a magnificent celebration of the latest in scientific and clinical knowledge in periodontology and implant dentistry.
The event, which will run from Wednesday, June 20 to Saturday June 23, will build on the huge success of EuroPerio8, which took place in London in June 2014, attracting almost 10,000 attendees.
The organising committee for EuroPerio9 is seeking to give more prominence in the programme both to younger periodontists and to women as a way of highlighting the diversity of contemporary periodontology in Europe. There will also be a greater number of interactive sessions than in previous congresses.
Highlights from the soon-to-be-announced programme include live periodontal surgery (for the first time at a EuroPerio congress), a debate session about the global threat of antibacterial resistance, a 3D session on reconstructive surgery at teeth and implants, and a “nightmare session” which will discuss the worst cases that periodontists can treat.
One key session, which takes place on the morning of Friday, June 22, will provide news from the World Workshop on the Classification of Periodontal Diseases which will take place in November this year in Chicago.
There will also be a session in which alumni of the EFP’s accredited postgraduate programmes in periodontology will give short presentations, as well as a joint session with the Japanese Society of Periodontology.
Registrations for EuroPerio9 opens on September 25, with discounted prices ranging from €260 for students, dental assistants, and nurses to €530 for members of EFP-affiliated national societies of periodontology and €680 for non-members. The early-booking period lasts until March 14, 2018, after which non-discounted prices apply. Full details are available on the Registration page of the EuroPerio9 website.
The EuroPerio9 organising committee is inviting submissions of abstracts of scientific and clinical presentations. Abstracts, which should be written in English, may be submitted for consideration between September 25 and November 28. A list of topics and details of format requirements will be published during the summer.
The official first announcement of the scientific programme is due to be published in the coming days.
"We've been working hard to prepare an exciting scientific programme for EuroPerio9, which is just a year away," said Michèle Reners, chair of the EuroPerio9 organising commitee. "We are designing a congress with wide participation and a lot of interactivity. So, save the date now, get ready for EuroPerio9 - and get ready to make it your EuroPerio"
