Moroccan perio society focuses on aesthetics in third international congress

The third international congress of the Moroccan Society of Periodontology and Implantology took place recently under the heading “Aesthetics in periodontology and implantology”.
The congress, held at the Hotel Kenzi Menara Palace in Marrakesh from October 14 to 16, was well attended with about 350 periodontists and dentists taking part and there was an impressive line-up of international as well as local speakers.
David Herrera, Jean-Louis Giovannoli, and Edwin Winkel gave lectures about different aspects of peri-implantitis, while Mariano Sanz, Zouheir Ismaili, and Ueli Grunder addressed questions concerning implant placement.
Massimo de Sanctis addressed the topic of aesthetics in regenerative surgery, Virginie Monnet-Corti spoke about root coverage, and Bouchra El Houri gave a lecture about whether the connective epithelial graft is still relevant.
Other speakers included Youssef Dahbi Skali, who focused on gingival aesthetics in the smile design, Mehdi Jouhadi, who lectured on the white and pink aesthetic zones, and Hamid Riahi, who spoke on the design of aesthetic rehabilitation and prosthetic implants.
Workshops covered topics including bone substitutes in guided bone regeneration, the use of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) in periodontology and implantology, and the management of implant placements. In addition, Brenda Mertens (EFP junior officer, Communications Committee) and Virginie Monnet-Corti (president, French Society of Periodontology) gave a workshop on muco-gingival surgery.
Bouchra Abbassi, president of the Moroccan Society of Periodontology and Implantology, said that it had been an “honour” that so many big-name lecturers had taken part in the congress.
