Ukrainian perio society conference focuses on polymorbid patients
Opening session of the conference
The Ukrainian Society of Periodontists held a conference in Kyiv on April 6 and 7 devoted to modern approaches to diagnostics and treatment of patients with both periodontal and systemic diseases.
The event, organised with the support of the P.L. Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (NMAPE), brought together 270 participants from all regions of Ukraine and included professors, university lecturers, periodontists, dentists, and students.
The first day of the event featured presentations from Ukrainian lecturers, while the second day involved international speakers.
Among the speakers were Korkud Demirel (Turkey, chair of Perio Master Clinic 2017), Michèle Reners (Belgium, chair of the EuroPerio9 organising committee), Alina Puriyene (Lithuania), Deimante Ivanauskayte (Lithuania), and Anas Elharathi (Libya).
“On behalf of the members of our society, we are grateful to them for their support, for the desire to share their knowledge with Ukrainian dentists,” said Galyna Biloklytska, president of the Ukrainian Society of Periodontists.
She praised the “atmosphere of creativity and mutual understanding that arises when people are committed to their profession.”
EFP events – European Gum Health Day on May 12 this year and EuroPerio9 in June 2018 – were promoted both at this conference and at the symposium "Perio, Endo, Resto II: Science, Practice, Experience", which was held on April 26. This symposium, a sequel to an event held in February, brought together professionals from periodontology, endodontics, and restorative dentistry.
