Refocusing prevention of periodontitis and peri-implantitis
Dental professionals, periodontists, hygienists, and dental students can now download the full general guidelines to emerge from the ‘Prevention Workshop’, a refocussing of oral health priorities based on the conclusions of the XI European Workshop in Periodontology, held in November 2014, focusing on the prevention of periodontal and peri-implant diseases.
Each of the four working groups at this major research workshop has had a full year to review and condense its more extensive conclusions – available here in open access to all – and these are what the European Federation of Periodontology considers as crucial information for all members of the oral health community to take on board. Please read these guidelines. They cover every aspect of multiple research papers which came under systematic review by more than 75 international experts in periodontology.
The issues of implant hygiene routines, placement, risk assessment and infection control are dealt with in the guidelines on prevention of peri-implantitis.
