Sustainability at EuroPerio11

Sustainability is more than an environmental issue - it is a broader challenge that affects everything and everyone on the planet. EFP and the Congress Organising Committee are committed to this cause and aim to make this the most sustainable EuroPerio yet.

Being as sustainable as possible was already a priority for Copenhagen 2022, but in 2025 we will take the next step from EP10. We are well on the way to having EuroPerio11 officially certified with the Austrian Ecolabel for "Green Meetings and Green Events".

Among others, the following measures have been taken by the organizer to make EuroPerio11 more sustainable:

  • The selected conference venue has an environmental certification
  • The conference centre and all recommended hotels are accessible on foot or by public transport
  • Provision of a free public transport ticket to all delegates
  • Catering during the congress days is seasonal and regional
  • Vegetarian or vegan alternatives are offered for all official catering functions
  • Only reusable tableware will be used
  • Partnerships primarily with hotels with eco-labels
  • Only printing a small “pocket programme” instead of a full programme book to avoid wastage
  • All printed matters will be on recycled or chlorine-free bleached paper
  • Name badges will not have plastic covers
  • Primarily using digital instead of printed signage
  • Contracts with industry partners to ensure the industrial exhibition follows environmental guidelines

We encourage all congress participants to choose sustainable travel options when coming to Vienna.

  • Make use of the city's fully integrated public transport network during your stay.
  • The Austrian Federal Railways (“ÖBB”) Nightjet provides eco-friendly overnight connections from over 30 European cities directly to Vienna. Additionally, EuroPerio11 attendees can benefit from special ÖBB congress discounts on train tickets to Vienna. Click here for more details and to access the discount code.
  • If you cannot get around flying, you can always offset the environmental impact via carbon compensation.

Let's make sustainability our priority: small changes can have a big positive impact.
