EuroPerio11 Abstract Submission Guidelines

All accepted abstracts will be published in a special edition of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology.

Types & Structure

Abstracts should be no more than 300 words.

You can choose between either a Research presentation or Clinical Report presentation.

Research presentation

  • It should present the methods and results of an original research project.
  • Systematic reviews are allowed but they need to be adequately justified and provided relevant results.
  • Structure of the abstract: Background & Aim, Methods, Results, Conclusions
  • Please ensure you include data from your results: statements such as “the results of the study will be discussed” will not be accepted. 
  • Submitters can indicate whether they prefer:
    • Oral presentation
    • E-Poster presentation (either E-Poster Discussion or E-Poster only)
    • No preference.

Clinical Report presentation

  • A clinical report presentation should describe novel clinical techniques, presenting case reports or case series. 
  • It should contain a short statement of the background, followed by description of the clinical procedure and description of outcomes.
  • Structure: Background, Procedure, Outcomes, Conclusions
  • Submitters can indicate whether they prefer:
    • Oral video presentation (if case/s will be presented mainly as videos)
    • E-Poster presentation (either E-Poster Discussion or E-Poster only)
    • No preference.

Preparation and evaluation of abstract

  • One table per abstract is allowed. No figures and videos can be uploaded in the abstract submission process.
  • The final decision on the mode of presentation will be taken by the EuroPerio11 Scientific Committee.
  • All abstracts will be reviewed by a panel of expert referees.

Submitters for both Research presentations and Clinical Report presentations can choose one of the following topics:

a.     Periodontology/Periodontics

  • Aetiology and pathogenesis of periodontal diseases
  • Diagnosis and risk factors of periodontal diseases
  • Periodontal therapy – step 1: risk factor and supragingival biofilm control
  • Periodontal therapy – step 2: subgingival instrumentation and adjunctive therapies
  • Periodontal therapy – step 3: periodontal surgery (access, resective, regenerative)
  • Prevention and supportive periodontal care
  • Periodontal plastic surgery (mucogingival surgery)
  • Periodontology and other specialties in dentistry: aesthetics, orthodontics, endodontics, prosthesis…
  • Periodontal diseases and systemic diseases
  • Miscellaneous

 

b.     Dental Implants & Peri-implant Diseases

  • Basic concepts, diagnosis and risk factors in Implant Dentistry
  • Implant therapy - bone regeneration
  • Implant therapy - surgical & restorative protocols
  • Peri-implant diseases - aetiology, diagnosis and risk factors/indicator
  • Peri-implant diseases – prevention and management
  • Miscellaneous

Presentation Mode

  • Approximately 10 % of the submitted abstracts will be selected for oral presentation and are to be presented in one of the Research sessions or Clinical Report video sessions.
  • The main mode of poster presentation of abstracts will be by electronic poster presentation.  The best electronic posters will be selected and will also be presented in one of the dedicated “E-Poster Discussion” sessions.  Please indicate, if you are happy to participate in a poster discussion session if selected.
  • Abstract presenters may embed videos in their oral presentations or electronic posters.
  • Some of the sessions may be run in hybrid format
  • Only one abstract for each presenting author is allowed.

  • I have received the permission of all authors to sign and provide a copyright transfer agreement which transfers copyright to the EFP.
  • By submitting an abstract on this web site, you represent that you own or otherwise have rights to the written summaries of research or observations ("Abstract") provided by you to EuroPerio11 (hereafter EP11), utilizing this site.
  • In case of unsuccessfully applying for oral presentation, I will accept a poster presentation.
  • I affirm that if this abstract is accepted as a Poster presentation, it will be submitted and presented as an e-poster following the general rules of electronic poster format preparation.
  • I affirm that if this abstract is accepted for Poster or Oral presentation, at least one of the authors will register for EuroPerio11 in Vienna by the given deadline (January 31, 2025).
  • For clinical studies and animal studies, I certify that the study has been approved by an appropriate Institutional Research Board/ Research Ethics Committee.
  • This abstract contains work that is original and has not been previously published in a journal.
  • I affirm that I will also present my abstract if the session is arranged in a hybrid format.
