Gum diseases

Gum diseases affect most people at some point during their lives. They are caused by the body’s reaction to bacteria that build up in the mouth and cause inflammation. There are two main forms of gum disease – gingivitis and periodontitis – and there are also peri-implant diseases that affect the gums and other tissues around dental implants. Good oral hygiene at home and regular visits to the dentist can help prevent the appearance of gum diseases and limit the damage they cause if they do appear.
