About the Center

The Department of Periodontology at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC-Barcelona), School of Dentistry, is an internationally recognized center of excellence in periodontal and implant dentistry. The department is renowned for its strong commitment to high-quality clinical training, innovative research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The Department of Periodontology is particularly well known for its expertise in peri-implant diseases, implant dentistry and mucogingival surgery. The center offers a highly dynamic academic environment, and residents are exposed to advanced clinical procedures as well as demanding research.
 

Time allocation during the Program (estimate)

The 3 years full time program is 180 ECTS comprised in 6 semesters. Starting the beginning of September and ending the third week of July, from Monday to Friday.

Patient care: 45%
Research: 25%
Didactic: 30%

 

Research activities

UIC Barcelona maintains an active research program in implant dentistry, peri-implant diseases, and soft tissue management. Residents collaborate with leading researchers and contribute to scientific publications.
 

Training and Language requirements

• Completed postgraduate training in Research Methodology is an advantage, as well as Periodontology and Implant Dentistry continuing Education.
• One year of professional clinical experience as a qualified dentist is recommended.

English proficiency is required. Intermediate knowledge (B1) of Spanish is necessary for clinical interaction.
