The Irish Society of Periodontology (ISP) held its Annual Scientific Sessions 2026 on 27–28 February 2026 at The College Green Hotel in Dublin, welcoming a full house of members and colleagues for two days of high-level scientific exchange in Ireland.
The highlight of the meeting was an outstanding lecture delivered by keynote speaker professor Frank Schwarz, director of the polyclinic for dental surgery and implantology at the Goethe University of Frankfurt and associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Periodontology. His talk on the management of peri-implantitis and advances in reconstructive surgical approaches, provided a comprehensive and clinically focused exploration of:
- Implant surface decontamination protocols.
- Surgical techniques and materials for reconstructive therapy of Class I defects.
- Combined and modified combined therapy for advanced Class III defects.
- Soft tissue volume grafting to prevent postoperative mucosal recessions.
- Implant removal and implant site development.

Professor Schwarz’s depth of evidence and clinical relevance generated lively discussions, with delegates engaging actively in questions and shared experience.
Reflecting on the meeting, ISP president Winston Camargo said: “We were delighted to welcome our delegates, sponsors and our main speaker professor Frank Schwarz to Dublin for our 2026 Annual Scientific Sessions. His comprehensive overview of peri-implantitis management provided practical, evidence-based guidance that our members can immediately translate into clinical practice. The hands-on sessions were also particularly appreciated. The quality of discussion across the two days reflects the strength and commitment of our society to advancing periodontal science.”
The ISP also extends sincere thanks to its sponsors for their support of the meeting, and to all members and colleagues whose participation and engagement contributed to an inspiring scientific event.
