Mia Rakic
Dr. Mia Rakic is professor in the department of periodontology of the School of Dental medicine, University of Bern and the head of the Robert K. Schenk Laboratory for Oral Histology. She is specialist in periodontology and oral medicine, and recognized expert in domain of peri- implantitis. Dr. Rakic has graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine (University of Belgrade, Serbia) where she also defended her Ph.D. thesis in the field of Validation of alveolar bone los markers for diagnosis of peri-implantitis. In 2013 she performed her post-doctoral training in the field of biomaterials for bone regenration, in well-recognized institute for osteo-articular regeneration (INSERM-UMRS-1229, University of Nantes, France). Following this training she extended her expertise in domain of development of precision bone substitutes for targeted treatment of peri-implantitis as well as in domain of infection-induced release of titanium particles and she took over the position of associate professor in the same institution. Dr. Rakic was also member of the ETEP research group of the University Complutense of Madrid. Dr. Rakic is the youngest president of the EFP, she served as a member of EFP scientific committee, and as chairman of ambassador committee of the EuroPerio11.
