Selena Toma
Prof. Selena Toma (Belgium) is Professor and Head of the Departments of Periodontology and Orthodontics at UCLouvain and Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels. Passionate about education, clinical excellence, and research, she combines her academic responsibilities with an active clinical practice focused on periodontal and peri-implant health.
An Executive Committee member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), she is strongly committed to promoting high-quality periodontal education and fostering collaboration between universities, scientific societies, and dental professionals across Europe.
Her research interests include periodontal and peri-implant diseases, host inflammatory and immune responses, nutrition and oral health, and innovative approaches to disease prevention and treatment. Above all, she enjoys mentoring students and young colleagues and helping shape the future of periodontology through education, research, and international cooperation.
Outside academia, Selena enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, and exploring the connections between people, cultures, and health.
