Call for applications for the HSP Fotis Mitsis 2026 prize

The Hellenic Society of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry (HSP) invites young dentists to apply for the Fotis Mitsis Prize 2026. The award was established by the HSP Board in honour of Professor Fotis Mitsis, former rector the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in recognition of his longstanding contribution to periodontology and academic dentistry.
The biennial Fotis Mitsis Prize, aims to encourage, support and promote the scientific activity of young dentists in the field of periodontology. The award includes a monetary prize of €1,500 and an honorary diploma, with sponsorship provided by dental companies and other allowances approved by the society.
The prize is open to Greek, Cypriot and expatriate young dentists up to the age of 32 who have completed postgraduate training in periodontology at recognized universities in Greece or abroad. Candidates will be evaluated on criteria including scientific activity, continuing education, future contribution to periodontology and the HSP, as well as personal ethos and character.
Applicants are required to submit a full CV, copies of their scientific publications, documentation of training, and at least two recommendation letters. The awardee will be invited to present a short lecture during the award ceremony and submit a scientific article in Greek to Advances in Periodontology, the official online journal of the HSP.
The deadline for submissions for this year’s edition of the prize is 23 June 2026. Results will be announced during the HSP inaugural meeting on 9 October 2026.
